In response to the escalating cyber threats targeting strata communities, CHU Underwriting Agencies has incorporated cyber protection into its standard residential strata insurance policies.
This enhancement provides coverage of up to $50,000 for losses resulting from social engineering fraud, a form of cybercrime where perpetrators impersonate trusted contacts to manipulate payment instructions.

Steve Tchepak, CHU's Head of Underwriting, emphasised the growing relevance of cyber risks in the strata sector. He noted that cyber threats are no longer confined to large organisations but are increasingly affecting everyday transactions such as invoices, levy notices, and supplier communications within strata communities.

This proactive measure by CHU reflects a commitment to evolving alongside the changing risk landscape, ensuring that strata owners and managers are equipped to handle modern challenges. By integrating cyber protection into their policies, CHU aims to bolster the resilience of strata communities against digital threats.

Strata owners and managers are encouraged to review their current insurance policies and consider the benefits of this added cyber protection. As cyber threats continue to evolve, having comprehensive coverage is essential for safeguarding the financial and operational stability of strata communities.
